Manchester United interim manager Michael Carrick has revealed the reason behind his decision to bench Cristiano Ronaldo against Chelsea.
The game ended 1-1 via goals from Jadon Sancho and Jorginho.
Ronaldo came off the bench just after the hour mark when he replaced Jadon Sancho.
Carrick was asked why he dropped Ronaldo to the bench.
“That’s not the case, no,” Carrick told British media. “We came here with a plan.
“Slightly disappointed to be honest,” Carrick added. “We went ahead, we came here to win. To go 1-0 up and have it taken away from you is disappointing.”
Manchester United are 12 points behind Chelsea and they will be in action against Arsenal on Thursday.
