After the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday, the Minister of Power, Engr. Sale Mamman has disclosed in a tweet that the Federal Government has approved the sum of ₦10.7 billion for electrical power development in the country.
He stated in the tweet that the funding was for the design, construction, manufacturing and supply of four power sub-stations in Damaturu, Potiskum, Bụrụ and Maiduguri.
Following a comment by one Yadomah Bukar Mandara on the earlier tweet which read; “Divide the share for Maiduguri and look for an alternative source for us since Shekau has sworn we won’t get power the conventional way. Maybe explore solar”, the minister advised that terror must not be given into.
Engr. Mamman said, “Good Evening Yadomah, we must never give in terror! While we continue to ensure that conventional power infrastructure is improved on and secured, we are also investing in Solar systems”. ”Borno State is one of the biggest beneficiaries of the 5 million Solar homes project.”
He further tweeted that the project would allow for rural areas to benefit from independent solar systems.
“I have already briefed H.E. @ProfZulum when he paid me a visit a couple of weeks back. The project will see Rural communities benefit from independent solar systems. Businesses and Industries thrive on Electricity from the grid, so no matter what, investing in the grid is key!” his tweet read.
