Bobi Wine, Uganda’s opposition leader, has on a tweet on Friday, January 15, 2021, said that the elections were tampered with by fraud and violence, but he still remains positive on the outcome of votes.
The opposition in a move to end the dictatorship of President Yoweri Museveni is seeking a sixth term in office has faced severe persecutions.
The campaigns before elections were one of the most violent in years now, claiming lives and leading to arrest of Wine’s supporters and severe attack on media. Wine also claimed that both he and his wife have been restricted from making calls, as the votes are counted with the internet cut off.
Ugandans are awaiting the results to be announced on saturday. In appreciation to his supporters, Bobi Wine stated:
“Thank you, Uganda for turning up and voting in record numbers. The challenge now is for Mr. Byabakama and the EC to declare the will of the People.”
