Two Chinese expatriates working with a fishery and poultry company have been abducted by gunmen on Wednesday at the Oba community of Obafemi-Owode L.G.A. in Ogun State.
Public Relations Officer of the Police Command in Ogun State, Abimbola Oyeyemi disclosed this while speaking to newsmen on Thursday.
Abimbola revealed that the gunmen entered the farm and retreated with the captives using the River Ogun after shooting sporadically at the farm.
Although contact hasn’t been made by the abductors to the police or the farm for ransom, Abimbola assured that the Police was working hard to locate and rescue the captives.
Also speaking at the inauguration of the Amotekun Corps in Abeokuta on Thursday, Governor Dapo Abiodun expressed his displeasure for the kidnappings within the State and promised to use all means necessary to eradicate the kidnappers and bring back safely the victims.
The Governor said, “There has been a spate of incidents of kidnapping in the State in the last one week or so with Nigerians and Chinese nationals as victims.
“Through combined efforts of our security agencies working with locals, some of the victims have been rescued whilst some are still being held by the kidnappers.
“I want to assure you all that no effort will be spared to rescue safely the remaining victims.
“In the same vein, a number of initiatives are being put together to stem this ugly tide of kidnapping and indeed all other forms of criminality in the State.”
