Former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Force Team, Abdulrasheed Maina collapsed in court during a trial on Thursday 10th December.
Maina who had been on trial, over 2 billion Naira money laundering, had jumped bail and escaped to Niger Republic before the hands of the law caught up with him.
The federal government of Nigeria is prosecuting Maina on a 12-count charge in a Federal High Court in Abuja.
Anayo Adibe who is Maina’s counsel was praying the court for an adjournment to enable him to get records of court proceedings before Maina collapsed.
According to him, the proceedings would help him prepare for the no-case submission he intends to file on behalf of his client.
However, when Maina collapsed, the court allowed the correctional service and relation unit to attend to him.
According to reports, Maina had been medically unfit and this had prolonged his trial. His lawyer attested that Maina once bled during a court sitting. The court has adjourned the case till December 21 and 22.
