Following the construction ongoing at the Third Mainland Bridge Lagos, it has been reported that the Lagos State Government would shut the Third Mainland Bridge again on Saturday.
According to reports, this is to enable the contractors to remove the equipment used during the reconstruction of the bridge.
This was declared in a statement by the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde on Wednesday, making it known that the closure would last for just 24 hours between Friday midnight and Saturday midnight.
The statement read that, “Having completed the replacement of the 12th expansion joint and to demobilise the superstructure of the Third Mainland Bridge, the Lagos State Government will shut down the bridge from midnight Friday to midnight Saturday”.
The statement revealed further that, “The total closure of the bridge was slated to enable the contractors to move the equipment used during the rehabilitation process off the bridge completely to allow both the Oworonshoki and Adeniji bound lanes to open fully to traffic”.
The commissioner said that traffic managements would be deployed to the area, to address issues following the closure of the bridge.
