The Race for Covid-19 Vaccine

Covid-19 Vaccine War.

It is 10 months since Covid-19 sprang and ultimately paralyzed the world. While we are battling for our lives, governments and big pharmaceutical companies have been consistently researching, experimenting, and conducting phases of human trials.

The United States, United Kingdom, and China has been leading the chart, defying preceding norms, cutting red bureaucratic tapes, and conducting human trials at a blinding speed.

The Race for Covid-19 Vaccine 25

The United States and the United Kingdom are flaunting their prowess through private companies like Pfizer, Johnson and Johnson, Abbvie, Alexion, GSK, etc. Although, it’s difficult to determine which private initiative China is using due to restricted information and government bigfoot.

For a developing country like Nigeria, the crux of the matter is which country(s) should we purchase our vaccine from. In terms of quality, one would recommend the United States and the UK but in terms of cost then China is the alternative. Nonetheless, going by price alone will be erroneous, suicidal, and irresponsible. Let’s reflect on the Chinese Slang “Cheap Cheap Not Good and Good Good Not Cheap”.

Its time for effective governments around to world to make an impeccable decision. Whichever is the option, they should be compelled to take the vaccine first. Leadership by example.
