Super Falcons Beat Ivory Coast In Abuja

The Super Falcons recorded a 2-0 win over Ivory Coast at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja in the first leg final round qualifiers for the 2022 Women’s Cup of Nations.

The Randy Waldrum-led team were without Asisat Oshoala, Francisca Ordega, and Desire Oparanozie for the first leg clash.

Ashleigh Plumptre was impressive on her full debut since switching her international allegiance.

Ifeoma Onumonu opened the scoring for the hosts against the run of play early in the second half.

Chiamaka Nnadozie denied the visitors with a good save in the second half to help the Super Falcons preserve their lead.

Ifeoma Onumonu scored the second with a superb lob over the Ivorien goalkeeper to seal the first-leg win for the Super Falcons.

The second leg comes up in Ivory Coast on Wednesday, February 23rd in Abidjan.
