Omoyele Sowore and some other activists were arrested for protesting peacefully against bad governance on the 31st of December 2020. They’ve since been detained and imprisoned before they were given a hearing at the Magistrate Court in Abuja.
However the Magistrate Court sitting in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja has granted bail to Sowore, who is also the Convener of #RevolutionNow, the sum of N20million and two sureties. Others were granted bail of N1million and one surety.
According to the Chief Magistrate Mabel Segun-Bello while ruling on the bail application, ordered Sowore to remain in Abuja and must physically report to the court registrar every Monday and Friday pending the hearing and determination of the case against him. The court also ordered that one of his sureties must be a civil servant not below grade level 12.
