SERAP Warns FG Against Using Draconian Law Against Activists

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to stop President Muhammadu Buhari from using Draconian provisions of CAMA 2020 to target activists.

The body has warned about arbitrarily merging private association, religious association, charities, NGO/professional bodies under Part F and remove their trustees.

Explaining further, the body explained that the unlawful provision will allow the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to take over the funds of such association, and give such funds to another association on the pretext that the account is dormant.
