SERAP Stops FG From Borrowing N895bn Of Nigerians’ Money

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has asked the court to restrain President Muhammadu Buhari from borrowing N895bn of Nigerians’ money.

The Federal Government has earlier made known their plans of borrowing unclaimed dividends and balance in dormant accounts.

SERAP has however, told the Court to compel the Government in cutting down the security votes and their allowances.

The body made it known that borrowing funds in dormant accounts owned by ordinary Nigerians would affect their rights to adequate standard of living.

The body added that despite Nigeria’s dwindling oil revenue, debt, poverty, public officials including the president, vice president, Governors and their deputies have refused to cut down their allowances.
