Liverpool talisman Mohammed Salah has tested positive for Covid-19, the Egyptian FA has confirmed.
Salah is on international duty as Egypt prepare to host Togo in Afcon qualifiers today.
The former Chelsea winger’s test returned positive but the rest of the team tested negative.
“Salah is keeping a high spirit and is not showing any symptoms of the virus,” said the EFA in a statement.
This will come as a big blow for Liverpool after Joe Gomez underwent surgery after sustaining a knee injury while on duty for England.
Salah is expected to self-isolate and he is likely to miss Liverpool’s next two matches against Leicester City and Atalanta in the Champions League.
Salah has scored eight goals in eight Premier League matches this season.
