Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that he does not see Lionel Messi as a rival.
Both players clashed on Tuesday when Barcelona played host to Ronaldo’s Juventus in the Uefa Champions League.
Juventus won the match 3-0 courtesy of a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo.
It was the first meeting between both players since Ronaldo left Real Madrid in 2018.
“I never saw him as a rival. He always tried the best for his team, and I tried the best for mine. I always got on well with him. I am sure he will say the same if you ask him.
“But we know in football, people always look for a rivalry to create more excitement.”
“Messi is the same as ever (on the pitch),” Ronaldo said. “Barcelona is in a difficult moment, but they are still Barca. I am sure they will come out of it. All teams have bad runs, but Barcelona is a very good team.”
Ronaldo and Messi have won 11 Ballon d’or awards in the last 12 years.
