Nigeria played out a goalless draw with Cameroon in an international friendly on Tuesday in Austria after losing the first match 1-0 on Friday.
Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has revealed that he is optimistic about the team’s chances at the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers despite the poor performances against Cameroon.
“We will be ready in September for the World Cup qualifiers,” the German tactician told the NFF media after the game against Cameroon.
“We hope the fans can return to the stadium in September after this crazy Pandemic (Coronavirus), which has made everything difficult.
“Cape Verde beat Cameroon 3-1 on their synthetic pitch recently. So, we know already that it will be very difficult.
“Our first two matches are very, very important.”
The Super Eagles will battle it out with Cape Verde, Liberia, and Central African Republic for a place in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
