A 35-year old police officer, Fawale Rauf, a father of three has been reported dead on Sunday, January 24. He was allegedly beaten to death by three officials of the Department of State Service have allegedly. Rauf was attached to Dada Estate Police Station, Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
The Nation Nigeria gathered that Rauf had an altercation with some DSS operatives before he was attacked on January 14, 2021. The Nation also learnt that Rauf was at work when he received a call on his phone from a DSS official. He reportedly left the police station for River Side where three DSS operatives pounced on him, hitting him in the head with clubs until he fell into a coma.
Before he passed on, Rauf was said to have been transferred to UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, after being first taken to a private hospital.
A call for prosecution of the DSS officials has been made by father of the deceased, Rabiu Fawale. Rabiu said that he had reported the case at the DSS Command in Osogbo, the state’s capital, but nothing was done even after making a statement where his statement.
