NFF President Amaju Pinnick has denied reports that seven players of Nigerian descent have switched their allegiance to Nigeria.
It was reported last week that the likes of Tosin Adarabioyo, Ike Ugbo, Ademola Lookman, Nathan Tella and Seyi Ojo have been cleared by FIFA to represent Nigeria but Pinnick has revealed that only Ovie Ejaria has been cleared.
“Ovie Ejaria has been cleared by FIFA to play for us (Nigeria), that I can confirm to you, I’m not aware of the others,” Pinnick told The Punch.
The 23-year-old Ejaria was born in England to Nigerian parents and he has represented the three lions at the U-20 level.
“We won’t beg anybody to play for us. If you want to play for the Super Eagles, you have to write to the federation informing them of your intention. We will look at your statistics and decide if the player has what it takes to play for our national team or not,”Pinnick added.
Ejaria is currently on the books of Reading in the Championship.
