Former Nigerian Finance Minister and World Bank Staff, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has emerged as the Director-General of the World Trade Organization WTO.
This was officially made known on the social media handle of the organization. According to the Trade Organization, Iweala has made history as the first woman and African to lead the WTO.
It has been revealed that her tenure commences on the 1st of March.
It was also revealed that the WTO members took the decision to appoint Iweala at a special meeting of the General Council, following a selection process that included 8 members from around the world.
