Following the arrest of the former governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, the Commission has disclosed that Obiano is being interrogated over the alleged misappropriation of N42 billion belonging to the state.
According to reports, a source in the EFCC disclosed this to NAN on Saturday in Abuja.
The source made it known, “The former governor is being interrogated over alleged misapplication of N5 billion Sure-P and N37 billion security vote, withdrawn in cash.”
The source reportedly noted that part of the funds was also allegedly diverted to finance political activities in the state.
This is coming after Obiano was arrested by the EFCC on Thursday night, while trying to board a flight to the US at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos, after handing over to the governor-elect, Prof. Charles Soludo.
