NLC Protest In Abuja Over Minimum Wage

It has been reported that members of the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC,  have commenced a protest march to the National Assembly complex in Abuja, following after a bill was passed to remove the National Minimum Wage from the exclusive to the concurrent legislative list.

Garba Mohammed a house member from Kano State sponsored the bill about two weeks ago, and the bill would allow both the Federal and State governments to freely negotiate minimum wage with their workers ” in line with our federalism.”

However the organised labour has opposed the bill, saying it would undermine the working class in the country.

According to reports, the protesting workers marched to the Shehu Shagari Way towards the NASS complex, and this has caused serious traffic gridlock forcing motorists to seek alternative routes to avoid being caught in the traffic logjam.
