Following the Federal Government directives that all SIM cards be linked up with the National Identification Number NIN of individuals, citizens have trooped out to get this obligation done. However, the workers on the National Identification Management Commission NIMC went on strike due to poor condition of service and exposure to Covid-19 pandemic.
However, the strike was suspended on Friday after a meeting with the Federal Government, where it was agreed that the demands of the employees would be addressed. The National Identification Number (NIN) registration is set to resume on Monday as workers of the National Identity Management Commission suspended their industrial action.
The President, Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, NIMC Unit, Asekokhai Lucky said that workers of the commission across the country have been contacted to resume work by Monday, and begin the enrolment of citizens for National Identity Numbers.
