Nineteen governors that formed the Northern States Governors Forum in Nigeria, met yesterday Nov 2nd to regulate the social media, proposing that they wanted to pass the social media bill.
At the meeting, they called for censorship of the social media practice in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, citizens have cried out saying censorship of the Social media in Nigeria would mean killing the hope of the common man.
Due to this, the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has said that plan to censor the Social media was unconstitutional and antithetical to Nigeria’s international human rights obligation.
The body had promised to fight it out and make sure the plan of the Northern Governors doesn’t stand.
