It has been reported that the Niger State Government has placed a restriction on the operation of motorcycles and tricycles in the state.
This is coming after a “fracas and youth restiveness”, which led to the looting and destruction of properties, and also disrupting the peace in Minna.
However, the State Governor, Abubakar Sanni Bello has issued a statement on Twitter stating that, “thought it wise to quickly nip in the bud all forms of disturbances by restricting the movement of motorcycles and tricycles”.
According to the statement, “The restriction order commences from Friday, 9th April 2021″. “Therefore, the period allowed for the operators of commercial motorcycles and tricycles is now between 6:00 am to 9:00 pm under strict compliance with laid down traffic rules and regulations which include the use of reflective jacket, plate number among others”.
The statement added that, “There will be stop and search of other vehicles that are allowed movement within the period by security agents”.
