NDLEA: Most Wanted Drug Baron Arrested in Nasarawa, Two Others Arrested

In a statement released on Wednesday by the NDLEA, the most wanted drug baron in Nasarawa state was arrested by operatives of the agency on Friday 2 April 2021.

Sami Ashoko (39), identified as the drug baron has been arrested at his warehouse containing 100 bags of cannabis weighing 1.1 tons/1095.3kg in Lafia, the state’s capital.

Commander for the State’s NDLEA Command, Justice Arinze, explained that Ashoko, who had been on the radar of the agency has been nabbed based on actionable intelligence and the bust was the highest singular seizure of cannabis the state’s command has made since its creation in 1999.

He said, “Sami Aaboko is the most wanted drug baron who has been on our watch list in Nasarawa state. This seizure has beaten the previous record of 45 bags weighing about half a ton recurred in January 2021 as the highest singular seizure of cannabis since the inception of the Command in 1999. The seized consignment was meant for Easter sales, and which he expects to sell out in two weeks.”

Meanwhile, operatives from the Edo state command also nabbed two members of a different cartel on the same day.

Adamu Badamasi and Adamu Abba, identified as the two suspects were arrested while transporting 950 compact blocks of cannabis weight 1,330kg from Uzeba, Owan West L.G.A. of the state to Bauchi State.

Buba Wakawa, Commander for the Edo State NDLEA Command explained that the suspects had tried to evade operatives in a white Peugeot J5 space bus as the “goods” were meant for Easter sales.
