National Assembly Postpones Resumption

The National Assembly has announced its postponement of resumption to 9th February, as against the initial 26th January 26.

“This is to inform all distinguished senators and honourable members of the National Assembly that the resumption of plenary sessions earlier scheduled for Tuesday, 26th,” Ojo Olatunde, clerk to the National Assembly, stated on Saturday”.

Amos said that essence of the postponement is to allow for the participation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party to participate in the registration and revalidation of its membership, which will to begin on Monday, January 25.

The statement noted that before the Christmas and New Year breaks given to the lawmakers, the National Assembly had passed the 2021 budget with a speculated estimate of N13.082 trillion to N13.588 trillion, which is N505 billion higher than the executive’s proposed budget.

Further expatiating the budget, the statement read:

“The 2021 budget is christened the budget of economic recovery and resilience aimed at accelerating the pace of Nigeria’s economic recovery, promote diversification, enhance competitiveness, and ensure social inclusionary 2021 is hereby rescheduled for Tuesday, February 9, 2021.”
