Gidado Sidikki, Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, South East Chapter, has shown his support for the order placed against herdsmen wielding guns by the Anambra State government.
The Chairman said this in reaction to an earlier order given by the governor of Anambra state.
“The governor’s order is in line with the already existing agreement between the South-East governors and the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria.
“My members have been having a good relationship with their host communities in spite of some isolated cases of misunderstanding, which is normal in every human society.” he said.
Speaking on Monday, 1st March 2021, Chief Willie Obiano, Governor of Anambra State had ordered that herdsmen armed with guns within the state should be treated as criminals by the State police.
Obiano had said this during a stakeholders security summit in Akwa and had stated that a census of herders within the state must be carried out before the order became effective.
