Makinde Sacks Ibadan Road Contractor Over Laxity

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has fired the contractor handling the rehabilitation of the Ibadan Circular Road over what he referred to as unsatisfactory slow pace of work on the project.

According to Makinde, however, his administration would complete the 32-kilometre stretch; the first phase of the road, before the end of his tenure on May 28, 2023.

He made this known during a tour of the project, even as he promised that the contractor, ENL Consortium Construction Company, would be paid for the work done.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Taiwo Adisa, has made the directive of the Governor known through a statement.

The statement read that, “We have terminated the initial arrangement. This is the road that we think will change the economy of Oyo State substantially. But the previous contractor, if we had continue with their pace, maybe they may finish in another 20 years”.
