An amazing poet passed away.
Nigerian poet, John Pepper Clark, popularly called J.P. Clark, has been confirmed dead. The poet, who has been ill for a while, died on Tuesday, 13th October at the age of 85 years. This was made known by a close associate, Jahman Anikulapo.
Mr. Clark, who studied at the University of Ibadan, was a professor of English at the University of Lagos from where he retired. He was a foremost poet during his lifetime. His poems received both international and national awards. His poem “Abiku” brought him fame during his lifetime.
