Following the every Monday IPOB sit-at-home order, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, has reportedly stated that Anambra State loses N19.6bn each time a sit-at-home protest is observed in the state.
According to reports, Soludo, who is the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in the upcoming November 6 poll in the state, disclosed this during a meeting with elders and stakeholders in the state.
Soludo stated that, “Anambra State’s economy loses an estimated sum of N19.6bn every time the sit-at-home directive is enforced in the state.”
He said that, “I call on the people of the state to be watchful. I praise the outstanding achievements of Governor Willie Obiano, who has delivered sustainable legacy projects to Ndi Anambra, including the Anambra International Airport; the International Convention Centre, Awka, and the Awka Stadium.”
He added that “The governor has done well despite overseeing two recessions and the state suffering dwindling federal allocations.”
