Insecurity: We’ll Ensure That Peace Returns To Plateau State – Irabor

Following the massacre going on in Plateau state, it has been reported that the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, has stated that, the Armed Forces of Nigeria would do all within its reach to ensure peace returned to Plateau state.

He reportedly made it known that the Defence Headquarters has activated the early warning and early response mechanism to prevent possible attack on innocent communities.

Irabor reportedly added that security has been beefed up in volatile communities, urging the people to have confidence in the security agencies.

This was contained in a statement by the Military Information Officer, Ishaku Takwa on Thursday.

According to the statement, “General Irabor assured that the Armed Forces of Nigeria would do everything within its mandate to stabilize the state and called on the traditional, community and religious leaders to champion the peace process in their domains. He noted that lasting peace could only be achieved when all the people understand each other and respect one another.”

The statement read that, “The CDS who revealed that the Armed Forces of Nigeria has a duty to create the avenue for peace to triumph, noted that the Armed Forces would accelerate its activities towards sustaining peace and stability on the Plateau.”

It added that, “He said security agencies need the support and encouragement of the people to achieve their mandate on the Plateau.”

It stressed that, “He further disclosed that the Defence Headquarters has activated the early warning and early response mechanism to prevent possible attack on innocent communities.”

The statement continued that, “The CDS disclosed that security has been beefed up in volatile communities and therefore urged the people to have confidence in the security agencies. The CDS also warned against taking up arms against one another.”
