In a bid to secure Oyo State from criminals, it has been reported that the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has urged the Nigerian Army to secure the border of the state against foreign criminals who are trooping into the country from the area.
The governor reportedly made this known in Ibadan on Monday when the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Farouk Yahaya, paid him a courtesy visit.
According to the governor, “My administration needed the support of the army in overcoming security threats being posed by criminals.”
Makinde made it known that, “The government of Oyo State will never engage in ethnic profiling, but criminals will be treated as criminals, irrespective of their ethnic background or religious affiliations.”
Meanwhile, Yahaya charged the troops to be “more professional in the war against insurgency, terrorism and other forms of insecurity threatening the country.”
