Following the case of an alleged bribe levied against a Deputy Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari, it has been reported that the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, has approved the posting of Tunji Disu, as the new Head of the Police Intelligence Response Team.
This was reportedly disclosed in a statement on Monday by the police spokesman, Frank Mba, titled, ‘IGP appoints DCP Tunji Disu as Head, Police Intelligence Response Team,’ said the positing was with immediate effect.
According to the statement, “The IG charged the new head of the IRT to demonstrate his professional competence in his leadership of the unit.”
The statement added, “He also assured citizens that the IRT will remain focused in the discharge of its duties in line with national statutes and international best practices.”
Following his appointment, Disu has been a former Commander of the Rapid Response Squad Lagos State and was also the DCP, Department of Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
