Herdsmen: Amotekun Investigates Destroyed Maize Farm In Ekiti

Following the fight against killer Fulani herdsmen in the South West, The Maize Growers Processing Marketer Association of Nigeria had revealed on Tuesday, that some herdsmen had grazed their cattle without caution and had destroyed a multi-million naira maize farm along Ado-Ijan Road in Ado Ekiti.

According to reports, MAGPAMAN Secretary in Ekiti, Mr Tope Emmanuel, had expressed grief over the fact that the farmers loaned N60.8m from the Central Bank of Nigeria to cultivate the maize farms on about 235 hectares, in which the profit would be about N410m.

According to Emmanuel, “They invaded the farm at night with weapons and fed their cows with our plant. All efforts to stop them were rebuffed. We are begging the state government to save us as our members are really in a difficult situation in view of the loan,”.

Nonetheless, the MAGPAMAN Secretary had said that the police and the State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps) had been notified about the incident.

Also, the Ekiti Amotekun Corps Commander, Brig-Gen Joe Komolafe (retd), had made it known that the situation was being handled.
