Fast-rising artiste, Habeeb Okikiola, fondly called Portable has been disqualified from the 2022 Headies nomination, following numerous indicting statements he has uttered in the past weeks.
This was disclosed on the official page of the African Music Award on Tuesday.
This is coming following Portable’s earlier comments that the award for the category in which he was nominated belonged to him and that anyone who tries to contend with him would die.
Also last week, Portable passed a slippery comment on being the founder of a notorious cult group, ‘one million boys’. He however made a U-turn on the statement, stating that what he meant was one million fans.
Disclosing Portable’s disqualification in a statement signed by Headies Secretary, it was disclosed that the organizers of the Headies Awards are law abiding and responsible organization that abhors any form of violence, and unlawful gathering ravaging the society.
The statement added that the music industry demands all-round excellence, and it is extremely important for young artistes, being potential role models to exude professional responsibility, proper decorum and have respect for others.
It was then stated that Portable had been disqualified from both categories of awards, he was earlier nominated for – “Best Street Artiste and Rookie of the Year”, at the forthcoming 15th annual Headies Awards scheduled to hold later this year.
