Following the invasion of Rochas Okorocha’s residence by the operatives of the Economic Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, the former governor was finally whisked away around 6:48 pm after about 9 hours of siege on his Abuja residence.
Videos of operatives of the agency forcefully breaking into Okorocha’s house had however circulated online before he was finally arrested.
The operatives of the EFCC had earlier disclosed that Okorocha had been invited earlier to stand before a federal high court in Abuja for allegedly conspiring with five companies and others to steal N2.9bn in public funds, but he didn’t honour the call, and that’s was why he was forcefully arrested.
According to reports, other defendants standing trial in the case include Anyim Nyerere Chinenye, Naphtali International Limited, Perfect Finish Multi Projects Limited, Consolid Projects Consulting Limited, Pramif International Limited, and Legend World Concepts Limited.
