Former Interim Head Of State, Ernest Shonekan Dies At 85


Former interim leader in Nigeria, Chief Ernest Adegunle Shonekan, has reportedly died at the age of 85.

The deceased who was also a lawyer served as the interim Head of State of Nigeria, from the 26th of August 1993 to 17 November 1993. 

Shonekan was born on the 9th of  May 1936 in Lagos State.

He succeeded the military era of General Ibrahim Babangida and was overthrown in a palace coup led by late General Sani Abacha who was the then Secretary of Defence.
