FG Sets To Shut Down Third Mainland Bridge On 29th January

On Wednesday 27th January 2021, a statement signed by Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State Olukayode Popoola had revealed that the Federal Government is set to shut down a section of the Third Mainland Bridge for about three days for some replacements.

According to him, “construction works had reached the stage for casting concrete on additional three expansion joints, hence the need to stop all movements on the bridge that could cause vibrations”.

He added that “Messers Boroni Prono is planning to cast three number expansion joints on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st. This will require total closure of the Third Mainland bridge from 12:00 midnight on Friday 29th till midnight on Monday 1st February 2021″.

Mr Popoola however said, “We are sorry for the inconveniences this may cause Lagosians,”.

Babatunde Fashola, who is The Minister of Works and Housing had revealed that the bridge would be fully reopened to traffic by February 15.
