The Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami has said that the Digital Identity Number is free and that there’s no need for payment of service to anyone.
In a statement written on the Ministry’s Facebook page by Dr. Femi Adeluyi, the technical assistant on information technology to the Minister, it has been made known that the Federal Government is bearing the cost of the registration process. The Ministry stressed that the Digital Identity Number is completely free for all Nigerians and legal residents with Resident Permit from the Nigeria Immigration Service.
According to the statement, “the Digital Identity Number is the right of every citizen, based on the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Act 2007”.
The Ministry also commended the Management and Staff of NIMC who have been working hard during, and even outside, working hours.
