The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the reconstruction of a 22km section of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.
This was announced by the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola after the approval of a memo for the revision of the contract cost for the project by the council during its weekly meeting.
The Minister stated that the project was awarded to the Niger Construction Company and that the project was based on strengthening and repairing the 22km section of the road which had been depleted over the years.
Fashola said; “The Ministry of Works and Housing presented one memorandum to the council which was for the revised estimate total cost of our project on the Enugu-Onitsha Highway.
“It was to add the sum of ₦8.649 billion to the section under contract to Niger Construction which is a 22km section of the 100km road so that we can expedite conclusions of works there.
“The council approved this variation of ₦8.649 billion in favor of Niger Construction Company.”
