Everyone Deserves Love

She was sold at 12
by her dad and dowry paid.
In her eyes were tears, a frozen face.

Her heart was empty, I mean heavy
She stood and watched her world broken into pieces
Confused, drowned with a pang of tender sadness.

Mum stood in silence like other women
But spoke bilingually.
The language of maligned women
Tears, fear and more tears.

She went to her new home
And became a mother in nine months.
A marriage without love
A marriage without choice.

She learned to live with a clutched fest
Everyday tears fall from her eyes.
You can’t break me she lips talk
As she guesses towards the sky in tears.

She sleeps with candles on
For darkness is her nightmare.
A fight for childhood and motherhood
A fight for the hope that never came
And Love she never saw.
