Following the October 20, 2020 massacre that reportedly happened at Lekki Tollgate in Lagos State, the panel set up to investigate the case submitted the reports to the Lagos State government on Monday.
According to the report which was tendered by Justice Doris Okuwobi, at least nine persons were confirmed dead at the Lekki toll plaza on the night soldiers stormed there to disperse #EndSARS protesters on October 20, 2020.
The report titled, ‘Report of Lekki Incident Investigation Of 20th October 2020’, disclosed that at least 48 protesters were either shot dead, injured with bullet wounds or assaulted by soldiers.
The report added that nine protesters were confirmed dead, while four were presumed dead. The panel listed 48 names as casualties of the incident, and among the 48, about 20 sustained gunshot injuries, while 13 others were assaulted by the military.
In reaction to this, Nigerian disc jockey, Catherine Udeh, fondly called DJ Switch, who covered the massacre on a live session on her Instagram page in 2020, has disclosed that the truth needs no defence.
Disclosing this on her official Twitter page, DJ Switch stated that, “Shattered so many lives, tried to destroy mine. Only for what you desperately tried to hide to be made public… by you! The truth needs no defence! #EndSARS.”
DJ Switch has earlier disclosed that she had been on the run from the Nigerian government, as she had been termed a facilitator of fake news.
However, with the report from the EndSARS judicial panel in Lagos, Nigerians have taken to different platforms to praise her for her bravery, for capturing the moment soldiers were shooting at protesters.
