It should be recalled that a Judicial Panel was set up to investigate, and get justice for victims of police brutality.
The panel was set up following the EndSARS protest that took place last year, October.
It had been reported that the Lagos State Judicial Panel that was tasked to Investigate and get justice for the victims of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) brutality, has begun awarding compensations to petitioners.
According to reports, a petition presented to the Judicial Panel, involving Mrs. Kudirat Adebayo Abayomi, who was killed by a police stray bullet in April 2017, has recommended the prosecution of the faulty police officers.
It was also reported that the family of the deceased have been awarded the sum of N10 million as compensation, scholarship for the children, and a letter of apology to the family of the deceased from the police.
Meanwhile, the panel also compensated Hannah Olugbode, a 35-year-old hairdresser, who has been on crutches after her left leg was shattered by a stray bullet fired by some SARS officers around the Ijeshatedo area of Lagos. N10 million was reportedly awarded to her for the stress and anxiety she suffered, and to help her undergo treatment.
