An incident of gunfire ensued in Abuja today when members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) known as Shi’ites clashed with police officers.
It was reported that before the clash which happened at around 1:00 pm, IMN members marched from the National Human Rights Commission on the same street, heading towards Hilton on Aguiyi Ironsi Street, Maitama; the location of Transcorp Hilton.
The protesters are demand the release of Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, their leader, who has being in detention since December 2015.
A court in Kaduna had on Tuesday, given an order for the release of El-Zakzay and his wife, Zeenat for COVID-19 treatment.
Despite the court order, the authorities is still yet to release him.
