Edo State Government, through its Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has revealed to newsmen that the State’s Government reviewed its curfew from 10 pm to 5 am to take effect from Friday, January 15. He said this in the state’s capital, Benin City, during a meeting with the state’s COVID-19 response team. Some of the things he stated are:
The review of the curfew is due to the uprising second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The government has slated February 1 as a possible date for resumption of schools. This date was set to allow time for full compliance with the COVID-19 preventive measures.
The postponement of resumption was effected in order to curtail the rise in the rate of coronavirus virus disease infection among children and youths in the state.
A monitoring team from the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) would monitor compliance rate ahead of the set date.
A team has been set up to enforce compliance to the regulation and anybody found guilty of any of the regulation would be charged or compelled to undertake community services.
