Dowen College: The Government Must Investigate Sylvester Oromoni’s Death – Atiku

Following the brutal death of Sylvester Oromoni, a 12-year old at Dowen College in Lagos, the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has stated that the governmet has failed in its duties if it doesn’t investigate the death of the young boy.

Disclosing this on his Twitter account, he stated that,  “We shall be failing in our duties as parents/ guardians, administrators, security agencies and government if we do not get to the bottom of the case of late Sylvester Oromoni. It is beholden upon us to enthrone a safe environment in our schools. #JusticeforSylvester.”

This is coming after Oromoni jnr was bullied and beaten by fellow students for refusing to join a cult group in the college, after which the injuries he sustained from the beating led to his death.

The report of his death had sparked agitations, and justice had been demanded.

However, the school denied the allegations that he was beaten, adding that he only fell during a football match.

Celebrities and top officials together with other Nigerians have vowed to get to the root of the matter, and with this, the Lagos State government has ordered the indefinite closure of the school.
