As a Nigerian, we are not fortunate enough to have a well recognizable passport and our reputation continuously shines a light on our path. When it comes to traveling abroad, its not a hobby or luxury but a struggle. Apart from applying for a visa with a lengthy fee, Invitation letter and interview follows suit but these are the basics. After going through the rigorous process, one still has less than a 30% guarantee to get the visa as such you end up applying multiple times.
Interestingly, having a relative abroad is now a prerequisite for visa application and having a shot especially for Nigerians. This is mostly because we love to travel and explore but the majority of us do not have any plan of returning back home due to the deteriorating condition of the country. It’s a shame that our brain drain is the highest in the world. Who will blame those countries for stringent rules on us?
Now before you waste your money migrating to another country, it’s pertinent to conduct due diligence research, understanding the risk and benefits of living in that country. Traveling to other continents like Asia, Europe, the Americas or Australia requires proper research otherwise one will end up in bane and regrets.
Asia is Earth’s largest and most populous continent, located primarily in the Eastern and Northern Hemispheres.
Asia countries as a whole do not and will not incorporate you into their society. Let me re-iterate, no matter how many years you will live in any country in Asia they will never welcome you as part of them. Secondly, If you are hoping for permanent residence (PR) status then sorry because they do not have provision for that unless you are a heavy pocket investor. Put differently, even when you marry a local, the best reward is only annually visa renewal at the mercy of your partner.
Conversely, Europe, Australia, and the Americas are totally different. They welcome you into their society and make you feel at home. Living in any of the countries on those continents will not only give you peace of mind but you are sure of (PR) after a few years. As a black, you won’t be judged by the color of your skin rather by the content of your character except on rare occasions because there is racism in every country.
Don’t travel to Asia for study or relocation but if your reason is for business then you will be greased with a smile and open hands. This archaic policy has left many people stranded and confused because you will end up living 10-15 years in Asia without having a (PR) status and by the time you realize what is going on it become hard for you to relocate. Even their own citizens are traveling all over the world in search of foreign citizenship while their countries neglect the same to those residing there.
This is written with first-hand knowledge and I am aware that many people might challenge my argument but have your facts ready. In as much as I do not imbibe or concur to their idiosyncrasies but a majority of them are protecting their image at the detriment of foreigners. So do not travel to Asia if you are looking for a home because there are no provisions for foreigners.
