The Federal Government had earlier announced that the Covid-19 vaccine would be available in Nigeria at the end of January. Later Nigeria’s Governors Forum also made it known that Nigeria has been chosen as one of the first 12 countries to receive the vaccine.
However, the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has made it known that there is no specific date on when the 100,000 doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines will arrive in Nigeria.
The agency said the vaccines might arrive in February, and that government official, vulnerable persons and health workers would be the first to get them
Dr Faisal Shuaibu, the Executive Director, NPHCDA, had revealed this during an interview with Bloomberg .
According to him, “We are waiting for final confirmation from COVAX on when the first doses will arrive,” adding that the “most recent indication is they are expected in February.”
