Aftermath of the protest that took place in October 2020, the Federal Government ordered that the bank accounts of the key leaders of the protest to be suspended.
This led to the suspension of about 20 Bank accounts of protesters.
However, Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Federal High Court in Abuja has given an order that the Bank accounts of the protesters should be unfreezed.
Following the Judge’s commendation of the counsel to the CBN, Mr Michael Andoaka, and also the lawyer to the defendants, Mr. Femi Falana, he said that, “all processes filed in respect of the case are hereby deemed to have been withdrawn. All the accounts of the affected persons be immediately defreezed”.
CBN made it known that the action of freezing the bank accounts earlier was to investigate the promoters of the protest, in order to checkmate terrorism financing.
