Chelsea new boy Kai Havertz has tested positive for Coronavirus.
The 21-year-old missed the club’s last training session ahead of the Champions League clash against Rennes on Tuesday.
Frank Lampard has now confirmed that the German international has contracted the virus.
Lampard said before the match against Rennes on Wednesday night.
“Frank Lampard has confirmed Kai Havertz has tested positive for Covid-19,” a statement on Chelsea’s website said.
“As a consequence, the player is now undergoing a period of self-isolation and is not involved in tonight’s Champions League game versus Rennes.”
Chelsea are back in Premier League action against Sheffield United on Saturday.
