It has just been reported that Ikoyi prison has been set on fire by angry mobs just this afternoon and that the warders are preparing to release inmates. This has however been foiled with the intervention of the Nigeria army.
This is happening after the jailbreak that happened in Edo State, a few days ago.
Following the brutal massacre at Lekki toll gates, vandalizations of both private and government properties had been on trails. It was reported that the Oba of Lagos palace was upturned and his staff of office taken away.
Meanwhile, Jailbreak has also been experienced at Okitipupa area of Ondo State. Thugs have been confirmed seen, to have broken into the prison on Thursday, and forcefully released the inmates.
A report had it that about 58 inmates were released during the attack while a vehicle was burnt.
Several items have also been reported to have been destroyed in the premises during the attack.
Ogundare Babatunde, the Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Command of the National Correction Service Center (NCSC) has confirmed the incident to be true.
