Abul-Bas and Ibn Habib, commanders of the Boko Haram belonging to the Shekau faction with bases in and around the Sambisa forest were killed by the Nigerian military.
The duo were killed alongside their bodyguards and other fighters in an operation at Banki Junction road around Pulka axis in Borno State.
The two commanders with other terrorists were under the surveillance of intelligence agencies and has fallen two weeks after the killings of Ali Bor and Maleum Modu.
Several AK-47 rifles, ammunition of 7.62mm rounds, one GPMG, motorbikes and cell phones where retrieved from the terrorists said an intelligence officer.
The officer further disclosed that the killings of the commanders was a big blow to the Boko Haram sect.
“It has further boosted the overall fighting spirit and morale of troops in the ongoing Operation Tura Takai Bango.
“The team comprises of a compact ambush team from 121 Battalion and elements of 151 Battalion known as the Gaddafi Squad”, he said.
Maj. Gen. Abdul Khalifa, General Officer Commanding of 7 Division praised Army Commanders in the Theatre on behalf of Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, The Chief of Army Staff.
Gen. Abdul urged the unit to continue in its offensive operation against the terrorists in the Sambisa forest so as to eradicate them as threats.
The first offensive military operation in 2021, Operation Tura Takai Bango, aims at eliminating the North-East terrorists movements.
